Young People

Sunday afternoon six young people will arrive from Melbourne to run a School Holiday Programme at the Corps. The young people will stretch their missional wings as they participate in this programme. The main bookings for the weeklong children’s programme are in the 6 to 9 years, age group.

What is the Lord going to do, this week?

Matthew 19:14 But Jesus intervened: "Let the children alone, don't prevent them from coming to me. God's kingdom is made up of people like these." (Message)

A Highlight

The old city of Jerusalem has a Majesty of it’s own. The sandstone buildings glow when the light is in the right place. I assume that this was the case when Jesus wept over the city, such a beautiful place, yet so far away from where God wanted, and required them to be. The remedy was Jesus sacrificial death, on a cruel cross. That would be enough to make anybody weep.

If you have been involved in Ministry, you would understand weeping over your city.

The visit to the Temple Mount had a variety of experiences. Some of these were, chastisement, oppression, void of God, situations. Except for one significant place where it felt as though there was an open access to God and heaven. The overwhelming sense of the presence of God himself, brought tears of confession, repentance, love, and joy.

Thank you JESUS!!!!!

When the city came into view, he wept over it. (Luke 19:41 Message)

Memories

I found the Old City of Jerusalem, to be a beautiful place. And felt extremely, at home and walked freely in all four quarters of the city.
Today I was looking at "The Jerusalem Post" newspaper for Sunday November 5, and Monday November 6, 1995. The last days our tour was in Israel. The headline stories were the reason I still have these papers.
Sun. ~ RABIN ASSASSINATED
Mon. ~ Yitzhak Rabin to be buried today
We were in our (new city Jerusalem) hotel room watching a movie ~ Crocodile Dundee ~ with Hebrew and Arabic sub-titles, about an hour into the movie everything stopped, to focused on the assassination.
'Rabin was felled as he was entering his official car at 9:50pm at the conclusion of a massive pro-peace rally in Tel Aviv's Kikar Malchei Yisrael attended by some 100,000 people.'
When will the world learn: Thou shalt not kill. (Exodus 20:13 KJV)

On a hillside

Matthew 5:1-2 (Message)
When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him. Arriving at a quiet place, he sat down and taught his climbing companions. This is what he said:. . . . . . . . .

Jesus’ taught what we know as, ‘The Beatitudes’.

I have had the amazing privilege of sitting on the hillside near where Jesus sat down to teach. For me it was exciting, just to know that I was where Jesus had been.

As I had read this passage of the Scriptures previously, I had no idea what the location was like. Sitting on this hillside, I observed that the area was similar to an area near where I grew up. Not only did I feel at home with the surroundings, I could also imagine Jesus teaching with me as part of the crowd that had followed him.

It was simply an ordinary place, where ordinary people, listened to an extra-ordinary person – JESUS.
Today is no different. In ordinary places, ordinary people, can meet an extra-ordinary person – JESUS.

June 27

Hudson Taylor envisioned a missionary task greater than any since the days of Paul—the evangelization of China. Toward that end he established the China Inland Mission on June 27, 1865. It was the dream of his life, for even before age five he had told friends he wished to be a missionary to the Orient.

He wasn’t actually converted to Christ, however, until years later. His mother long prayed for his conversion, but with no apparent results. One day while a hundred miles from home she felt unusually burdened for him. She withdrew to her room, locked the door, and began to pray earnestly. She didn’t stop till convinced he had been saved.

Meanwhile Hudson, 17, was at home with nothing to do. He wandered into his father’s library, shuffled through some papers, and came to a leaflet that began with an interesting story. He read the story, then kept reading. It was a gospel tract, and as Hudson later put it, “Light was flashed into my soul by the Holy Spirit. There was nothing in the world to be done but to fall down on one’s knees and [pray for salvation].”

REVIVAL

When God came to Cornwall in 1814, the people spoke of the ‘penitential pain’ when men and women were in great distress over their sin. At Tuckingham a meeting lasted from Sunday until Friday, with people coming and going all the time. During this ‘meeting’ this ‘penitential pain’ was extreme in some cases: Hundreds were crying for mercy at once. Some remained in great distress of the soul for one hour, some for two, some six, some nine, twelve and some for fifteen hours before the Lord spoke peace into their souls – then they would rise, extend their arms, and proclaim the wonderful works of God… (Revival a people saturated with God ~ Brian H. Edwards ~ Evangelical Press)

When I read accounts of revival, such as in Cornwall, I only have one thing to say. Lord, Lord, Lord do it again, here, in this city!!!!

Among many youth today, there is a wonderful yearning for a practical pentecostal holiness as the foundation of their spirituality, which overflows into their missional activities to touch a world that simply needs JESUS.

Psalm 85:12-13 (Message)
Oh yes! God gives Goodness and Beauty; our land responds with Bounty and Blessing. Right Living strides out before him, and clears a path for his passage.

Psalm 85:12-13 (KJV)
Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase. Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

Wonderful World

As a young person, I enjoyed riding my bicycle to school at the Technical College. Some of the best times were in the winter through fog, and also the challenge to break the ice on the water puddles. Primary School was different as the school was only a short walk through a lane way the icy puddles were broken by the more intimate approach of jumping on the ice.
The approach of my mother was to discourage such actions, along with floating leaf-boats in the flowing water of the gutter after a rain. All of which was exciting for a child.

In our present location we are experiencing, frost and fog. It is wonderful.
This morning the fog was thicker than yesterday, and the sun appeared like the moon with a brilliantly glowing aura around it.

What a wonderful world.

you put stars and sun in place. (Message)

Lamb

Rev. 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. (KJV)
Rev. 5:6 So I looked, and there, surrounded by Throne, Animals, and Elders, was a Lamb, slaughtered but standing tall. Seven horns he had, and seven eyes, the Seven Spirits of God sent into all the earth. (Message)
Just meditate on the picture of the Lamb of God, slain but standing.
VICTORIOUS!!!

Enjoyment

Today we went to the Movies. The movie we saw was Shrek 3. I do enjoy good comedies.
A good comedy does not have to be filled with smart dialogue, as actions, expressions, and timing, can have me rolling in the isles with laughter. One of the best comedies is a short film called “The Plank”(Thames Video Collection)

Laughing is great for the soul, and the body.

I am reminded that God made a bitter situation sweet, for His people, and brought enjoyment to their lives.

Exodus 15:25
So Moses cried out in prayer to God. God pointed him to a stick of wood. Moses threw it into the water and the water turned sweet. (Message)

Welcome

Hi, welcome to my blog.
Over the past few weeks, this blog has been visited by people from 19 different Nations, and 64 different localities. I just want to say thanks for visiting.
Please feel free to leave a comment, or the city, or your Church/Corps name.

I would love to hear from you.

Rev. 15:3-4 They sang the Song of Moses, servant of God; they sang the Song of the Lamb:
Mighty your acts and marvelous, O God, the Sovereign-Strong! Righteous your ways and true, King of the nations! Who can fail to fear you, God, give glory to your Name? Because you and you only are holy, all nations will come and worship you, because they see your judgments are right. (Message)

Trust

With our last move, my favourite mug was dispensed to the rubbish bin. After many years of use, it was stained, and the handle was about to fall off.
It is difficult to find the mug you want, as a replacement, for a faithful friend. It was a scripture mug, that reminded me every day to TRUST.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track. (Message)

Wages

Love thy neighbour as thyself!

I wonder if the Federal Parliamentarians would like all people to receive a 6.7% wage rise, just like the one they are to receive, when they reluctantly vote to endorse the recommendation.

Every worker should receive proper recognition, for his or her service.

Malachi 3:5 (Message)
"Yes, I'm on my way to visit you with Judgment. I'll present compelling evidence against sorcerers, adulterers, liars, those who exploit workers, those who take advantage of widows and orphans, those who are inhospitable to the homeless—anyone and everyone who doesn't honour me." STAND

Espesians 6:13b,14a ..... after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, ..... (NIV)

Here is where the rubber hits the road. With all the preparations done. Are you a believer, or not? Do you follow Jesus, or not? Do you have the Holy Spirit, or not? Do you trust in God, or not?

The world will ask the question a thousand different ways, and the answer is a Yes or No.

James 1:22 Don't fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! (Message)

NEW

It was always an exciting time to get a new exercise book at school. They always had a clean feel about them, pleasing to the eye, neatly cut pages that were flat and firm, and smelt good also. Then the schoolwork began to be entered onto page after page. I need say no more!!
For some strange reason, the loose pages from Technical drawing and Art remained in better condition than the English, Maths, Science, and Social Studies exercise books.
For a writer, or an artist, a blank page may be a frustration until it is filled with an expression of that person. This is quite different to filling pristine pages with stuff.

In God’s eyes, how are we viewed?

Scarlet

One of my father's favourite songs was, Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.

Isaiah 1:18-20 "Come. Sit down. Let's argue this out." This is God's Message: "If your sins are blood-red, they'll be snow-white. If they're red like crimson, they'll be like wool. If you'll willingly obey, you'll feast like kings. But if you're willful and stubborn, you'll die like dogs." That's right. God says so. (Message)

Or

Isaiah 1:18-20 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. (AKJ)

Unity

The Church leaders have their monthly morning tea together. Right in the center of the Shopping Centre, is a cafe without the restraint of walls. Where everything is open to the public gaze. Seven congregations were represented. What a great witness. Much laughter, and the occasional, serious discussion on ministry.

Sadly, one said to another, I haven't seen you for about two years.

We are now moving into the future, together!!

Hallelujah.

Ephes. 4:1-6 In light of all this, here's what I want you to do. While I'm locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don't want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don't want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences. You were all called to travel on the same road and in the same direction, so stay together, both outwardly and inwardly. You have one Master, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness. Are you on the level?

As a young child, I was always fascinated with the tools in my father’s toolbox. In particular, the spirit level, and the plumb line. Practical play was to use these tools to measure the perpendicular, and the horizontal, of anything in view.
One of the amazing phenomena was the variation from what the eye perceived as flat, or vertically correct.
I wonder, in this age of laser tools how the children learn, and practise.

Am 7:8 And the LORD asked me, “What do you see, Amos?” “A plumb line,” I replied. Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer. (NIV)

The plumb line for this age is, JESUS!

Tagged

Well, I've been tagged by Simon Peter. Thanks mate!!
Let's continue the blessing, with Graeme Smith, John Laird, John Ager, Peter Anderson, and Allison.

OK, the rules: grab the book closest to you. Turn to page 161. Print the 5th complete sentence on your blog. Tag 5 others.

He said to me, "That explains a lot!" and told me this story.

Worship

Yesterday, worship was fantastic. It was one of those day's that when you look back, and reflect on the day, you are amazed at how everything fitted together. There was laughter, and tears, alternating through the worship. We thanked God for Linda Joy Froud (PTG), as her name was added to the Honor Roll, after singing We are a People of Power. The Kids Spot (CSM), had great interaction from the congregation, even though there were no children present.

At the conclusion, a Soldier informed, I now know why I am here!! I am to support your ministry, and the gospel's preaching, with my prayer.

Hallelujah.

Galatians 1:3-5 So I greet you with the great words, grace and peace! We know the meaning of those words because Jesus Christ rescued us from this evil world we're in by offering himself as a sacrifice for our sins. God's plan is that we all experience that rescue. Glory to God forever! Oh, yes! (Message)

Make-up?

As we look at the Church today, what is the structural make-up of the Church, and it's ministry?

1 Cor. 12:27-28 You are Christ's body—that's who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your "part" mean anything. BUT!!!

An announcement was made, The Prayer meeting will be on Tuesday, but it will be at -----'s house. Just think of the ramifications, if you did not hear the portion after the but.
How often do we actually miss out on all the information, because we think we know all about it?
This can happen in the application of the Scriptures to our lives. Take the following verse in Psalm 34.
Psalm 34:19 Disciples so often get into trouble; still, God is there every time. (Message)
Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. (KJ)
On hearing only the first portion of the verse, you could assume that to be very righteous, you are required to have many afflictions, or troubles. Totally missing the point, that the Lord, will walk through the afflictions, or troubles with you.
Thank you, Lord!!!

Trinity Sunday

Although there were not many children for the Kids Spot, in worship today. Gwyn got a few adults to join-in to make Trinity Bread. They then, cut it into triangles, and shared it with the congregation. This was a hit with the congregation, and emphasised, the address which followed.
At morning tea, which follows Worship, one of the congregation said, I have a lot to think about!
Hallelujah!!!
John 16:12-15 (Message) "I still have many things to tell you, but you can't handle them now. But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won't draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. He will honor me; he will take from me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is also mine. That is why I've said, 'He takes from me and delivers to you.'

Wholly Sanctified

We believe that after conversion there remain in the heart of the believer inclinations to evil, or roots of bitterness, which, unless overpowered by divine grace, produce actual sin; but that these evil tendencies can be entirely taken away by the Spirit of God, and the whole heart, thus cleansed from God, be kept unblameable and unreprovable before Him. (TSA Handbook of Doctrine ~ 1964 Fourth impression)
1 Thes. 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (King James Authorised Version)
1 Thes. 5:23 May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. (Message)
I have found that, one of the amazing journey's of life, is to re-learn how to operate. As a child, learning is at an amazing rate, moving, walking, talking, communicating, social skills, where you fit in, etc.. The brain develops, and controls, an amazing interaction with the world around. All this learning is from the base of a broken relationship with the Creator, where self assumes supreme importance. Having been introduced to Jesus redemptive, healing ministry, and accepting that my position of alienation from God, could be reversed. An amazing new journey of discovery began. Now, my re-energised spirit, through Jesus ministry, had a connection with the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit. From here, much of the struggles, come from learning to sought out the brain versus spirit, stuff. Learning, growing, and developing the process of listening more and more to my spirit connection with the Holy Spirit.
What an amazing journey!!!!
As you read this, can you identify with this process?
